What a VPN is for
Typical uses:
- Using café, hotel, or airport Wi-Fi without sending everything in the clear on that local network.
- Keeping your real IP off the sites you visit, within the limits of whatever you log into.
- Choosing a different exit region when you have a reason to (travel, split-tunnel rules for local banking, and so on).
What a VPN is not
A VPN is not antivirus, not a password manager, and not a guarantee that a website you log into cannot identify your account. It does not make illegal activity legal. BetterVPN's acceptable-use rules in the Terms of Service still apply.
Encryption always adds a small overhead. BetterVPN tunes routes and capacity so everyday browsing and video calls stay responsive; pick the closest server for the lowest latency. That is not a speed ranking or a promise about every network.
Why BetterVPN
BetterVPN is a VPN for everyday privacy, operated by BetterLink, LLC. We focus on native apps, flexible routing, and a no-log stance on VPN traffic content, not on invented review scores or unpublished server counts.
- AES-256 encryption between your device and BetterVPN servers.
- A kill switch you can enable so traffic can be blocked if the tunnel drops.
- Split tunneling: per-country, per-app, and per-website / per-IP rules.
- Native apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, macOS, Apple TV, Android TV, and Linux.
- One subscription: Standard VPN includes up to 10 devices; Dedicated Server includes up to 30. Dedicated IP is an add-on, not a device cap.
- No-log policy on VPN traffic content. Account data needed to bill you (email, subscription state) is kept; traffic content is not.

Common questions
- What does a VPN actually encrypt?
- A typical consumer VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server (in transit). Sites you visit then see the VPN server's IP instead of your home or cellular IP, within the limits of whatever you log into. It does not encrypt data after it leaves the VPN server toward the destination site.
- Does a VPN hide everything I do?
- No. A website you sign into can still know your account. The VPN operator can still see that you have an account (email, subscription). BetterVPN does not retain browsing history or the contents of VPN traffic; account data needed to bill you is kept. A VPN is also not antivirus or a password manager.
- How does BetterVPN fit in?
- BetterVPN is a consumer VPN with native apps, AES-256 encryption in transit, a kill switch, and split tunneling (per-country, per-app, and per-site or per-IP rules). One account covers iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, and TV apps. Plans and downloads are on this website.
