Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

BetterVPN (the brand and service at bettervpn.com) is owned and operated by BetterLink, LLC, a limited liability company registered in the United States ("BetterLink, LLC," "we," "us," or "our"). We are built around a simple idea: you should be able to use the internet privately and securely. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, what we do not collect, how we use data, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, apps, and related services (together, the "Services").

Please read this policy together with our Terms of Service. By using the Services, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy.

1. Our approach

We collect only what we need to run BetterVPN at scale: account and billing basics, device and subscription management data, limited operational signals needed to deliver and protect the service, and minimal support records. We do not build profiles of your browsing. We follow a strict no-log approach to VPN traffic, and this policy explains what that means in practice.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your data for cross-app advertising or tracking.

2. What we do not collect (VPN activity)

In line with our no-log commitment for the VPN itself, we do not collect or store:

  • Your browsing history, traffic destinations, or content of communications while connected to the VPN
  • DNS queries tied to your identity or session in a way that could reconstruct your activity
  • VPN session data linked to specific online actions you take while connected

If we do not have data, we cannot disclose it - including in response to legal requests.

3. Information we may collect

3.1 Account and authentication

When you create an account or sign in, we may process your email address, a secure account identifier, and authentication tokens from the method you choose (for example email one-time passcode, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google). This is used to sign you in, reset access, send service-related messages, enforce device limits, and protect against abuse.

3.2 Devices and apps

To manage your subscription and registered devices, we may process a device identifier assigned by the app, a device label (such as the name shown in your device settings), device model, platform, and app version. This helps us enforce plan device limits, deliver configuration, and keep the service secure.

3.3 Billing and subscriptions

Paid plans are processed by payment providers (for example the Apple App Store, Google Play, card processors such as Stripe, or PayPal). We receive limited billing data needed to activate and manage your subscription - such as transaction status, plan type, product identifiers, and renewal state - not your full payment card or bank account number when checkout is handled by the store or processor.

Refunds depend on how you paid. Website payments through Stripe, PayPal, or similar processors we use directly may qualify for the 30-day money-back guarantee described in our Terms of Service. Purchases through Apple, Google Play, or another app store follow that store’s refund policy; we cannot refund those charges ourselves. See our Terms of Service for full refund details.

3.4 Service operation and abuse prevention

To operate the VPN service we may process product-interaction data such as server or location selection, connection and disconnection events, subscription checks, and configuration delivery. While you are connected, the app may send lightweight heartbeats that can include your app version, device identifier, and network addresses (such as your public IP and the VPN server endpoints in use) so we can correlate legitimate sessions, enforce quotas, and detect abuse. This operational data is not used to monitor what you browse or communicate through the tunnel.

3.5 Support and communications

If you contact us (for example at [email protected]), we keep the correspondence needed to resolve your request.

3.6 Website and cookies

Our site may use cookies or similar technologies for essential operation and preferences. When you arrive from a campaign link, we may store first-party campaign parameters (for example utm_source or gclid) in your browser and with the website checkout so we can attribute a purchase to that visit. We do not send those parameters to Meta, Google Ads, or TikTok pixels, and we do not use advertising pixels on this website. You can control many cookies through your browser.

3.7 On-device diagnostics

The apps may keep technical logs on your device for troubleshooting (for example when developer mode is enabled). These on-device diagnostics are not uploaded to our servers unless you separately choose to share them with us (for example by emailing support).

3.8 In-app support handoff

When you choose Live Support from a BetterVPN app (available when you are signed in with an active subscription), we may create a short-lived, one-time support link that opens live chat. That handoff can share limited account and device context with our support team so we can help you faster: your account email and user ID, whether you are signed in, subscription status, plan name and end date, device name or model, platform and operating system, app version and build, sign-in method, connection status, and a public error code if one is showing. It does not include browsing history, VPN traffic contents, passwords, VPN connection keys, session tokens, or full device identifiers. On TVs, the app shows a QR code you scan with your phone instead of opening a browser on the TV. Live chat runs on support software we host ourselves. We only link a chat to your BetterVPN account after our servers verify that you are signed in, either through the app's one-time support link or your website sign-in.

4. How we use information

  • Provide, secure, and improve the Services
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send important notices about your account or the Services
  • Respond to support requests and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations where required

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Sharing

We may share data with:

  • Service providers who assist us (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, customer support tooling, and infrastructure), under contracts that limit use to providing services to us
  • Sign-in providers you choose (such as Apple or Google) only as needed to complete authentication you initiate
  • Authorities when required by applicable law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users and the Services

6. Security and retention

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we hold. Retention periods depend on the purpose (for example, billing records may be kept longer than short-lived operational signals used only to keep the service reliable). We do not maintain VPN activity logs as described in section 2.

7. Your rights and account deletion

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. We may need to verify your request.

You can delete your BetterVPN account at any time from the app (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or on our website after signing in (account menu → Delete account, or https://www.bettervpn.com/account/delete). You may be asked to confirm with a verification code sent to your email. You can also request deletion by emailing [email protected].

8. International transfers

We may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for transfers.

9. Children

The Services are not directed to children under the age required in their jurisdiction to consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-app notice where appropriate.
