Encryption and privacy
Traffic between your device and BetterVPN servers uses AES-256. BetterVPN does not retain the contents of VPN traffic or browsing history. Account data needed for billing (email, subscription state, payment provider reference) is kept while the account is active.
Kill switch
The kill switch is designed to block other internet traffic on the device if the VPN tunnel drops, so apps are less likely to fall back to your real IP or DNS. Details and limits: the kill switch page.
- Enable it in the app after you connect.
- It is not a firewall product or antivirus.
Split tunneling
Send some traffic through the VPN and leave other traffic on your normal connection.
- Per-country: exclude a region so local banking can stay on a domestic IP.
- Per-app: choose which apps use the tunnel.
- Per-website / per-IP: pin a domain or address through or around the VPN.
Resilient connectivity
Encrypted transports and multiple regions with automatic failover when a path is unavailable. For how the apps behave on strict or unstable networks, see the restricted networks page.
Platforms
Native apps for iOS / iPadOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Apple TV, and Android TV. Linux installers are on the download page. Store listings: App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore for Fire TV and Fire tablets.

Help FAQ
Short answers from the BetterVPN help center. Open the full FAQ if you need billing, downloads, or troubleshooting.
- Does BetterVPN have a kill switch?
