How to choose a VPN (and where BetterVPN fits)

Criteria that actually matter

Use this list for BetterVPN or any competitor. Skip trophy badges that are not explained.

• Kill switch: can the app block traffic if the tunnel drops, and are the limits documented?
• Split tunneling: per-app, per-region, or per-site rules if you need some traffic on your normal IP.
• Platforms: native apps for the phones, computers, and TVs you actually own.
• Pricing transparency: public plan prices, what is included, how refunds work on the website vs app stores.
• Privacy stance: what account data is kept for billing, and whether traffic content is retained.
• Support: a help center and a real way to contact humans in a language you can use.

Where BetterVPN fits

BetterVPN is a consumer VPN operated by BetterLink, LLC. The official site is bettervpn.com. We focus on everyday privacy across devices rather than affiliate "best of" charts.

• AES-256 encryption between your device and BetterVPN servers.
• A kill switch you can enable in the app.
• Split tunneling with per-country, per-app, and per-website / per-IP rules.
• Native apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, macOS, Apple TV, Android TV, and Linux.
• Published website pricing with Stripe and PayPal options, plus store billing where the apps are listed.
• No-log stance on VPN traffic content. Account data needed to bill you is kept.

When another product may fit better

Choose a different VPN if you need a capability we do not provide, prefer a different company structure, or rely on a platform we do not support well. That's fine. The right VPN is the one that fits how you actually use it.

Common questions

Is BetterVPN the best VPN?

No honest provider can claim a universal #1. "Best" depends on your devices, network, budget, and which features you actually use. BetterVPN focuses on native apps, a kill switch, split tunneling, and clear website pricing. Another product may fit better if you need something we do not offer.

What should I check before buying any VPN?

Look for a real kill switch, split-tunnel options if you need local IPs for some apps, apps for the platforms you own, published pricing and refund rules, and a clear privacy stance on traffic content. Avoid fake aggregate ratings and invented server counts.

When might another VPN fit better than BetterVPN?

If you need a feature we do not ship, a jurisdiction or audit story that matters more to you than our product shape, or a store-only purchase flow we do not use for your platform, compare elsewhere. We would rather you pick a good fit than a forced one.
